Reviews for "Jinas 1: A New Friend"

really nice job

Backgrounds were well done, enjoyed the whole start of your story.
Nice animation, well done voices & loved the female frog's voice... it never shut up reminded me of my youngest daughter. lol
I'd wish you luck, but this submission doesn't need it.
Great job, look forward to the next part.
Thanks.

Thanks! I love Emmy's voice too, i think it really fit her character. Laura and Andy are stellar voice actors

Excellent Work!

I must say that I'm quite impressed with the time and care that must have been taken in the production of this work. Excellent Audio, particularly the music selection, but the voice acting also offered a great deal. I always love to see artist pursue solid story concepts, and there is definitely a motivation here.

A few things to work on, as no work is perfect:
Many of your action transitions are a bit rough, with key movements missing from the events. This would be less important at a higher frame rate, but regardless of the speed you still need to work on mapping out motion better. In particular the landings that the Tony and Jack both make, are lacking a fluid sense. One thing you might try is a planning sketch where you outline their body positions in each frame through the event. Try to make sure that you maintain even spacing, and slow gradually so that each picture occurs right where the audience's eye expects it to be. When your characters jump or hesitate unnaturally it can create an unsettling effect which will do a lot of damage to the suspension of disbelief.

AloneInTheDark responds:

Hey thanks for the review. I am also aware that the animation could have been more fluent at some points, but i never followed any training in animation. I don't study it and I have taught everything myself. The main reason for the points you mentioned is simply because adding more keyframes to some movements would also take more time. Sometimes i just have to say to myself, well this came out pretty good, on to the next part, instead of perfecting every scene with more keyframes.

Great!

I rather enjoyed that. Nothing quite like a tale about friend on a journey, who they meet up with, the tasks ahead. Looking forward to more!

I enjoyed it

I like your work, I cant wait to the the second part. everything looked very nice!

I see your a man of detail

Oh this seems like a classic story for the ages, I hope you incorporate a lesson to be learn in here, maybe down the road people on NewGrounds will use this flash as an annology, something like "don't always listen to the lil birdy..." or something/ But anyways this is the making of a real fine "classic" film, good job
