Very effective
I thought that the combat was portrayed quite well. I have two criticisms.
There was the long blackened scene with a series of red slashes, and this was supposed to mean the entire amy was destroyed? If there had been a scene right after that of several skeletons falling apart at once, I think it would have conveyed better.
the second is about the ending. We just kinda see his side and then it ends. But, that's it. I think it would have been more effective if said swordsman shouldered his blade and we have a long shot of his back, with him walking away.
