Reviews for "Awesome Sprite Tutorial"

Not bad, not bad at all!

Typically, you don't get the instructions on how to remove the "white" borders on imported pics in tutorials. That was a nice inclusion. Also, I didn't find out about onion skinning until only recently, so that was an excellent point to bring to light.

With Mario's animation, though, I think he needs a little bob in the 2nd frame (Hat cannot match frame previous), otherwise it looks like he's just kicking his legs and sliding when you tween him across the stage. I mean, when you think about it, it'd probably be really hard to keep your head completely level while running. A few small pixel adjustments up on that second frame will make the animation look more natural. Also, copying and pasting that second frame after the third one looks a lot better than looping to the first one again.

I hope my review was constructive and useful. Nicely done tutorial!

You have a few good points there. I normally make a motion tween that smalls him up (the running mario) a bit, making it really look like he runs. Actually making it lower in the beginning might not be a bad idea xD. And it depends per Sheet...I guess mario could look a little more smooth using the second frame twice, but it would have made it harder to explain :P
Thanks for your review

Very nice!

Although I don't use flash myself, this looks like a pretty good walkthrough on how to use sprites. It is well presented, simple and easy to follow, just how it should be. It was a lot like the write-ups i did a school too ^.^ Well done, very good work.

Swizardv2 responds:

Thanks :D

good

it helps a lot but have more colur.

Swizardv2 responds:

Black and white are perfect xD

I apologize..

But this review isn't going to be a very detailed review due to the fact that I don't have enough knowledge of flashmaking to base a solid review on your work.

From what I can tell you were able to give a lot of solid details about what a newbie to spritemaking would need to know when it came to creating their first sprite flash. This is extremely important. There are a lot of garbage sprites that come through the portal everyday, and it's thanks to people like you for creating tutorials like this that will inspire other to do well in future efforts.

The amount of detail was well done, which is a plus, but the clarity of the information you were trying to convery was very clear, which is an extremely important part of creating a tutorial. You included screenshots and even some "minimovies" I guess I should call them, which are important because sometimes words don't get accross the message properly.

Overall I'd say you've done a great job with this tutorial, and hopefully you'll come out with a second one sometime in the near future! Looking forward to seeing it!

Hehe thanks. Yea I tried to make it as clear as I could, over the internet that is xD. You could always try flashmaking, it's not that hard :]

Wow never reviewed a sprite tutorial

What an amazing tutoorial no sound but really, detailed and helpful to understand.

Graphics.8/10 Nothing to flashy the interface is exellant, and the step by step instrutions are very well drawn. The use of the showing circles round the text, on the programmes is very helpful. I thought the moving graphics are impressive.

Sound. I not going to give you a o that unfair, but i was thought it was a shame there seemed to be no sound on this tutorial. It would have been nice on the bits ,where you shown Mario move ,but its does not really matter to much.

What i loved about this tutorial is the simple ,bit by bit help done is such a quirky way. The use of showing how do do it is great ,as i never paid much attention to them before. I thought it would be impossible to follow, but it was not as i know how do some of the things you showed. Obviously it was fairly simple then it got harder later on, what i liked what how you made yours fun to follow. It did not seem like a chore to follow ,as it seemed to be like having fun. The end results were worth the wait ,and i loved how you had the moving animation.

My only complaint is the lack of sound, and maybe it could have more colors on it.

Overall as someone who always wanted to do flash your tutorial ,has been a great help as well as pleasure to play.

Glad that you learned something =]. Yea maybe I should have just added a low size song to it. (loops get anoying though) On the other hand, putting no music in, leaves you to listen to your own music. Glad you could follow what happened xD, I can't really judge that wen I make it. I try to make it as clear as possible :P
