Graphically awesome
Gameplay wise though, it fell hard. It was too slow, or too simple...too repetitive. I loved the particle explosions but it seems that they were merely replicas of the code you used for colourburst....correct me if im wrong =(
Try to create a game that is fun to play even after a minute. Mix it up. Repetitiveness seems to be the downfall of the past few games you made in my opiinion, no offense.

You know what, I loved this game. My favorite effect, non laggy particles. I would love to take a look at your particle engine. Or did you animate the particale explosions by hand?
good start, needs a little something
you've got the basics of a good game here, but there's a couple things worth mentioning. Indeed, the game does need some depth through different powerups (perhaps a multidirectional shield ot something) but i also noticed many times that shots would explode some distance away , without actually touching the shield. Maybe work on the collision engine, the object sizes, etc. The music was a nice tune, but we all know that any tune can get boring with time. Get another couple tracks in there, it'll spice it up a bit.
