Reviews for "A Traveler's Journey"

Nice melodies=3

I liked the tone of this, leaning towards 8-bit, or at least sounds that make me nostalgic for old school games. The only complaint I have is the crash was used way to much, and doesn't sound great, it'd be much better if I didn't here it after every bar. But that's just my opinion.

OpenLight responds:

Thanks for the review! I agree about the crash a bit. I'm a heavy crash user though. I should get some psychiatric help.

"So Openlight, why do you feel the need to use the crash?"

"I CAN STOP WHENEVER I WANT!"

Well done!

I liked it a lot! Make more! Cant wait to go running with this song =) Thanks for making it!

K this is wack

Some really cool melodies in here bro; great lead choices, and good overall flow of the piece. You gotta teach me how to mix kick drums some time -- seriously.

The lost point out of ten? The snare is fitting, but it's kind of generic. Dunno if it's just me having heard it too much in other songs, plus I couldn't think of something better -- but it must be out there!

The solo that starts at 2:03 is so ace, though. BOOYAH HOLMES

Nice stuff here.

OpenLight responds:

Haha thank you, man!

Yeah this song isn't getting rated well score-wise but I don't mind with all of these positive reviews. And this is one of my favorite solos out of all of my songs, so thanks! Haha

Nice

I pictured Yoshi wearing a top hat strolling down a street filled with shops. But that's just me.

The song's happy and uplifting, it has a really nice mellow rhythm to it.

You were right though, it starts of pretty repetitive and sometimes it feels like there's too much going on (my ears!) but that's all I've got to complain about, nice work!

OpenLight responds:

Hahaha thanks! I love the visual.

Not mind-blowing

It doesn't sound very good in my opinion. I'm not really sure why; it just doesn't sound good to me. I strongly dislike the melody. It almost seems annoying. Also, I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish at 2:00, but it was straight up bad.

The drums are very boring and repetitive; honestly, it's essentially the same beat over and over. Also, it's not mixed perfectly. I'm not using headphones--I'm using high-end speakers--and it doesn't sound perfect, so that kid who gave it a 1, even though he's a jackass, kinda had a point about the mixing. (And whether you realize it or not it does have a resemblance to Canon in D.)

The good news is, though, this song could be useful to someone. It seems like it has to be put into context in order to appreciate it. And the synth solo was pretty decent.
