Reviews for "rusting dreamscape"

good idea

very creative idea, and nice little piece, but it does need a preloader. this idea and feel, spread out into a movie, even just a little movie, would be a lovely little gem. really cool how you managed to interpret a dream in flash!

Not what i see everyday

Well...there isn't much too it. It feels like it should have a dark feeling to it but really doesn't...not to me anyway...it needs terrain...it is interesting, i'll give you that...but things should be moving, not in place. I'm not a gothic or anything like that but i do enjoy darker things for some reason (silent hill perfect example)....not saying your going for this but it would make it better

I enjoyed it and...

I think some more work on the audio is needed. I don't know what software you are using to mix this or your recording setup but I felt like the audio was lacking dynamics that could have made the effect of the whole piece much more powerful. I would experiment with using contrasting fades, both extreme and subtle and also try experimenting with reverb, specifically the delay times. My advice: long, sustained notes/voices should be very "wet" with extremely long decay times (just don't get the sound too muddled). Try applying large hall or cavernous type reverbs to sustained tones. With the shorter, transient sounds I'd recommend bringing them more to the forefront of the mix with slow frequency delays (aka echoes) at around 20-40% amplitude. You gotta really tweak delays just right or they easily sound amateurish. Subtle pitch bends and modulations could add interest as well. I could go on and on but since I don't know exactly what you are going for or are capable of I'll just stop here. I'm a recording engineer so if I don't stop now I'll use up every character! Oh and a little bit more variety in the types of sounds you use would be great. Try experimenting with non-distinct sounds like machine noise pitched low or time-stretched water... Oh, here I go again.. Must Stop... Writing.... It's your dream so who am I to be telling you how it should sound!?

Intresting

Graphic-wise, it was great. The music was very nice too. Though nothing really happened. There was no story or anything really happening except some movements made by those creatures. I thought this was very cool and well-done, but just needs more action.

You have to run with it

You did a more than excellent job in creating an atmosphere with this flash - the music and the art really struck me, along with the message. However, without the work going anywhere, I can't see this getting a good score. It might even be blammed. I think you have to run with this, and actually make it move. Tell a story. It looks like you've already set the mood. What do I know?
