The voice actor for Purple Link was hitting puberty around ep.2. He's the youngest VA of the cast and that explains why his voiced changed. That and he always likes to show off with a few lines every now & then.
Red Link's original VA, however was replaced after episode 3. SpikeDaPenuin was busy with other projects in 2006 and I had to continue the series without him.
