Reviews for "Fafu The Ostrich RPG"

I still can't save/load

Please fix it soon, it'd be a great help.

Wiesi responds:

you´re probably using an old flashplayer or something. here it works just fine.

cute adventure game

This is more an adventure type game than specifically an RPG, but it is fairly entertaining anyhow. I sometimes cringe when awkward or difficult character control become an added layer of challenge and I sometimes felt a tinge of that here... One point of frustration was that Fafu's main weapon was a non-projectile somewhat close range weapon, but he had no hitpoints to hide behind while the bosses all had plenty. The ring makes things a bit easier, but the player still needs to rely upon memorizing boss patters to develop a "combat strategy". Even one hitpoint before INSTANTLY DYING would have been helpful. To tell the truth, if I had to locate 10 extra hidden eggs to purchase an item to grant one extra hit before death, I'd jump at the chance... Constantly reloading becomes annoying after a while (ESPECIALLY if you get a boss down close to dying only to have it hit a single pixel on your beak forcing you to start all over again).

So that is what makes it frustrating. I also get a little irked when these types of games have no ending. Too many end with a simple "CONGRATULATIONS". Endings are not that difficult to create compared to the task of designing a flash game. However meager, I always appreciate all of the following game endings:

- Animated game credits
- Additional artwork/sketches
- Hentai tentacle moneyshots and furry yiffing (kidding)
- Unlocked modes, cheat codes, or easter eggs
- A short blurb or epilogue detailing how peace was restored

etc... Anything is better than nothing.

Worry not though, I am not here to simply tear you to shreds. Problems and bugs aside (and there are some major bugs; I got my ring to stop working and I had to beat the last boss twice just because I re-entered the church), the simplistic and cheerful nature of this game provided ample entertainment to keep me interested. You design a good game-world and that's not easy. The interface is not bad either mainly because it is so straight forward (no menus or inventory screen, just everything you need on the main screen).

I score a 7 overall and in my book, in terms of flash games, that breaks down like this:

6 - Above average
7 - Entertaining and/or interesting
8 - Memorable
9 - Entertaining, memorable, AND groundbreaking (to some degree)

10 - Pitch perfect; Nothing short of a masterpiece

So 7 is definitely NOT BAD! Keep it up!

The "Stuck in the air" glitch...

This is a fun game, but I do have a bit of trouble with the final boss... Im not going to complain about it. I even exploited the glitch where you get "stuck in the air"... No need for the trumpet I suppose. To get "Stuck in the air" you must jump then use the magic mirror, simple... Now fix it so the complaints stop... Back to the game... I voted 5/5, I really liked it...

Very good except annoying bug

I think I found the same bug that Vetle did (two post before mine) I got stuck in the air, upside down in the "secret rainbow world".

Other than that, this is another excellent game to add to the Mausland collection of other excellent games.

fun, with the funniest glitch ever

I seriously loved this game, it was quirky and very satisfying. i was agreeing with most of the others about the difficulty until i remembered to save very often. you're an ostrich in an RPG, not a shining knight, so the combat doesn't have to be deep to be fun. and fun, this game definitely is.

one thing though, and its more hilarious than annoying, on my second play-through after i bought the firespell and exiting the store, my character flipped around, moonwalking! he would shoot fire in the way his body was pointing, so it was reversed still coming from his mouth, not his rear. its fine though, the glitch went away after reentering and exiting any door. just thought i'd point it out. i wasn't able to duplicate it.

the music and sounds were great! kirby music worked perfectly :) and is that the jump sound from sonic the hedgehog?

keep up the good work!
