I found that you can invest money into the marketing to get people to come to your store (although the market research isn't that great), but at the end of the week just as you are about to be billed click the button again and you aren't billed! Sweet!
TIPS:
Another tip is that you can get some cheap items like grapes and milk and apples and use market research to make them 3 and 5's and people will buy a lot and you then can set the price really high and thus make a pretty good profit.
If you do this with more expensive items like pizza and etc. Then you stand to make even more profit, but remember you should start off with small stuff and then grow your business so that you can afford to buy the more expensive items.
Also remember that you can increase shelf space and thus you don't have to worry about re shelfing all the time, but do this only AFTER you have researched the item to its max amount.

i was a millionair buy june 11. i had 500units of juice for sale, 300 meat 200 icecream 300 pizza 300 pasta 500 fish 100 milk and 200 buiscuts for sale. to completely restock it costed me 150000$ at first i ran the store into the hole but i tryed agaimn and got 1mill
Fun enuff
Game was well done, enjoyed, relatively simple but more than adequate for a flash. Only complaint was my gf constantly griping about the sound to the point where she finally begged me to mute the "sh*tty music". I could just barely sense the original song hidden beneath that horrible muzak.
