Reviews for "Mohinder"

Eh.

First of all, let me say that I am a huge fan of the Swain in general, and the Blockhead series is one of my favorite webtoons of all time. Secondly, Heroes is my favorite T.V. show. I'm even a big fan of the X-Men comic books.

I really thought this movie was funny, but a little in bad taste. While I don't think that the purpose of this movie was to offend, I really thought that the exaggerated and unfavorable portrayal of the Indian people, while amusing, went a bit too far. For that reason I simply couldn't enjoy this satire to its full potential.

I did, on the other hand, love the X-Men joke, and the joke about the song at the end that took the internet by storm, and that I won't even attempt to spell. The animation was great, and the voice acting was pretty good, all things considered. The Swain is still one of my favorite animators and an inspiration for my own films. It was a funny movie... It just left me with a bad taste in my mouth, is all.

The-Swain responds:

I noticed you're from New York, which I suppose explains your exposure to anti-Indian racism? Rest assured, this wasn't an attack on Indians. I mentioned somewhere else that this is an attack on how Heroes is filled with Indian stereotypes, and yet Suresh is somehow immune to every single one of them. It makes me suspect that the writers were doing this deliberately and carefully. So, that's my reason for that part of the comedy element.

Besides, I'm The Swain. I don't make offensive cartoons. :) Shock value is not my bag.

Yesh my friend, good flash buddy, you do good guy

I've only seen Heroes once, but fortunately that gave me enough background to appreciate this. Good flash, the end was brilliant. It's been a looooong time, and now that song is back in my head. I'm not angry though. How the hell can I be angry with that song playing?

Huh?

I looked at recent submissions and noticed that you submitted this.
Oh boy, The-Swain is back.

Graphics 9, Sound 9, Style 9

Nice graphics, animation, and clear sound. I expected nothing less from you.

Humor 6,

I dunno, nice Indian accent, might understand it a little better if I had actually seen the show.

I have heard that song in the ending creds before. I have no idea what it is. Can you tell me?

Quality work, I look forward to more.

The-Swain responds:

This was definitely an "I'm not dead yet!" submission. I am going to have a lot of work to submit all at once this and next month, so it'd be nice to get people ready for it. :) I had hoped The Game would hold everyone off for longer, but people are ravenous for new content.

The song is Daler Mehndi - Tunak Tunak Tun. Rather than finding the song, go watch the video first. It's worth it, and you can thank me later! :D

CREEEEEEEEEEEPY!

This was just plain creepy. Some guy talkin' that looks like Osama is just weird. It was fine, I mean I like random stuff. But Blockhead is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. I understand that you wanna do something other than Blockhead though.

The-Swain responds:

This isn't "random", it's a parody of one of the main characters from the show Heroes. I turned him into a walking stereotype because the show seems to fight very, very hard not to make him one. So I helped them out and did it myself.

wow

I love it
