Reviews for "Vermilion 3: Prototype"

Pretty good game.

Really nice graphics, although the environments certainly could use work. I liked the music, but it was blatantly obvious as to where the loop began and ended, and that kinda made it hard to listen to. Also, 1 second of the music spilled over into the main menu before stopping abruptly. I think the menu could do with some background music.
Perhaps you could also add the option to allow players to customize the controls on their keyboard if it doesn't suit them.
But other than all that, you have a game with plenty of potential.

ChromeShark responds:

Interesting points about the music. The only solution I can think of to the looping is to have the tracks long enough so the end wouldn't be reached, but that would make the game a huge file size. I tried menu music but it didn't work, maybe I just tried a track that didn't fit. Keyboard customization might be pretty cool. Thanks for the review.

good game

good game, i didn't like the controlls very much though, But it looked great! i also recognized the firefly/serenity names in the randomizer which gives you bonus points from me.

ChromeShark responds:

Thanks for the review! No game is complete without Firefly/Serenity references : )

You know me dude...

You know who it is mark, anyway yeah constructive comments.
Well, its a good format and i respect the way it was scripted must have taken a good long while. However, the visuals were great, top notch infact, apart from the crazy ass flying robot bulldozers...yeah they looked out of place and abit too crappy american horror movie than sci fi. Its abit tricky to get into aswel i found, not particular the sort of game that needs keyboard control i reckon. But with mouse control it would be too easy...but it got repetitive mostly i found i had to scroll from one bottom corner of the screen to the opposite side to shoot another robot. Also the enemies tend to approach too fast, once they are past that little square theres no hope, especially if your doing as i said and moving that small viewfinder from one edge to the other...

Anyway thats just me being heavily critical - including the huge ZERO for humour and a lower score for that god awful repetive typical bloody sci fi music everyone seems so enthralled with these days. Its better than i could do and its made very well with lots of cool interesting features including the shop. Maybe you should try another webcam game where you use your fingers to kill the flying robot bulldozers...but i digress.

8 / 10 and i'll see you in Sound lecture tomorrow

ChromeShark responds:

Hey, thanks for reviewing. There's a few reasons I did keyboard control over mouse, the big one being that because of the 3D effects the game would have lagged a hell of a lot with mouse movement, probably unplayable for most people. With practice it's not too hard to hit most enemies before they go past the point of no return, especially if you can get good enough to use the ctrl key to move the cursor faster. I really like the music, I think the reason everyone uses it though is because of the lack of copyright restrictions the Audio portal has. But knowing that not everyone likes whatever music I'd choose it's easy enough to turn off the sound and put on some Vandals or something. Flying Robot Bulldozer Cam Crushing coming to the NG portal soon...

Great game

maybe i didn´t play it long enough but is there an option to shoot manually?
Anyway, i see alot of effort has been put into this and will rate it according to that. There are alot of options and a shop which is a big plus! Not really a lot i can say against this game, but the robots could´ve been made so they try and move away from the crosshair when targeted (but not too much or it will make the game even harder ;) ). This is Frontpage material!
I hope to see more Games from you guys as they have good ideas and a refreshing concept i.e the controlls etc.Thank you for taking your time for reading this but i just had to give a review for this game! - Corky

ChromeShark responds:

Thanks for the review! No option to shoot manually, although if you hold space you can hold the autofire. Probably wouldn't be too difficult for me to add an option for manual fire, might do that some time. That's a cool suggestion about the robots moving away. I'd love a front page but who knows. You'll be seeing lots more games from me, I've learned some really cool code recently that I can't wait to put in a game. Thanks again, great review.

average game

should use the mouse, it would make it much better, but it's still good, music gets the job done and i've seen this type of game many times before... but it's a good playthrough for awhile

ChromeShark responds:

I tried mouse but felt this worked better, both have benefits. Thanks for the review.
