I first like to say that I overlook the implications of the bomb at the end of the film. I am heavily against the bombings myself, and the overly broad, generalized path that the US Military is doing right now. I feel that it is killing to many needless innocent lives and is breeding a spirit for terrorism in the future, especially if our now allies actually turn out to be nothing more than modern bin Ladens who will turn against us once we double cross them, and become just as bad. Plus, there is a risk of inciting more terrorist to violence. But beyond that, this film, in my humble opinion, was barbaric and savage. It was the acts of violent vengeance, hate, and bloodlust being unleashed to its fullest to satiate a horrible appetite. What more, it was inspected to instill a sense of joy. What joy? We say that another country is terrible for hanging its enemies in a public schoolyard, so would we be any less savage for displaying pieces of a bloody skull for people to cheer for? It's a nightmare. It's human nature at its worst. It's what we proclaim to be fighting against. Justice is not an excuse for terrible acts of vengeful violence done from the epitomy of human evil and maliciousness. It's the mindless acts of a thoughtless beast, and turns us into more terrible creatures if we let ourselves derive joy from it. We may be obligated to want justice, but not revenge, torture, and delight in causing another slow misery. I wouldn't be able to do what happened in that movie to my worst enemy, and I would wonder who would be the real monster if I was amused through it. What this reflects a need for it time to gain control, heal, and become more rational before we can hope to administer real justice. I believe killing is wrong myself. I think that human life has a sacredness to it that no human being has the right to, whether they be terrorist or justice giver. But even if someone was for killing, I could not hope to ever understand them unless they feel that in killing there would be no other way in which to help others and prevent more evil from happening. But even then, there has to be justice and control, and torture and hate are two things that will assure that those things won't happen, and corrupt the very soul until it becomes dark and despicable.
