Ever since I lost my older sister in 2018 (she was only 29 years old, three years older than me) I tend to only think about death almost all the time. I really hate it and I really wish there was a way I could cheat death or find a way for me to heavily extend my lifespan so I can live longer and age slower because I already feel like most of my life has already been wasted due to overprotective parents (mostly my mother) and other reasons. In other words the flow of time makes me both sad and angry at the same time.
I really like how in this piece you've got that subtle circle around the character with the flowers and the graves. It's not super obvious, but you can really tell in the way the eye is led there no matter where you look. As always, outstanding brushwork and capturing of the feeling of a moment in your art.
I recently lost a family member to natural causes so this really resonates with me
ALWAYS hated funerals. sitting all dressed up and just seeing everyone else miserable is probably my least favorite thing. same reason I hate going to hospitals
