Reviews for "Matrix Rampage"

Pretty darn good

Graphics: 7
The graphics were good, but not amazing. They weren't very smooth. However, I liked the various stages of things breaking down (for example, cracks in the floor, then chunks, then it breaks)
Style: 10
Although this is pretty cliche, this is actually a fun game, completely and totally finished.
Sound: 8
The sounds were very thorough. I heard a crash or bang for everything from hitting to firing a pistol.
Violence: 7
The lack of blood probably is a good choice, as blood would make it extremely hard to see what you're doing near level 5+, when you have swarms of agents beating on you.
Interactivity: 10
There were huge amounts of weapons (I'm guessing there were 20-30. I died early on.), and nearly everything was breakable in some way. I really enjoyed the "pick up an agent and heave him across the room" thing, and that agents would use flowerpots and stuff to fight when I had stolen their weapon.. Also, the game is unexpectedly complete- I was attacking an agent at the door when I discovered that not only was the lamppost breakable, it could be used as a powerful weapon. One last thing about this is that jumping down on agents will make a shockwave and knock them out. It's especially effective when jumping off the roof - I saw my character falling at supersonic speeds, then killing an agent by landing on him. Three suggestions here: Make a weapons guide (I could never figure out which weapon was more powerful), make a points system to unlock upgrades the more you play, and make the health-packs automatically picked up. One of my quicker deaths was caused by me frantically pounding the s key while being shot at by angry agents. XD
Humor: 0
There isn't much humor here...
Overall: 8
This is one of the games I would come back to play (About one in a hundred or so games have the ability to do that), but only once in a while. I wouldn't play it madly over and over again, but I might if there was a points system. I guess I'm a sucker for those.

Good game!

Well, I really liked the game, but there are a few things I'd like to see, which of course, since you asked for it, I'll gladly supply.

Are You Saying I Can Dodge Bullets?- I understand that bullettime is overdone, but a Matrix game without bullettime is like icecream without the cone... You could make the enemy stronger, to compensate?

Rooftop o' Doom - Really, I understand that agents are supposed to be tough, but you throw one from the top of a 13 story building, its going to be unlucky for them to land. To balance, falling from the top could be very painful for the main character (like 20 health or so?), unless you fall on top of an agent, in which case the damage is reduced (like 5 or so). Then, make the enemy, who normally jump off the roof to join you in battle, suicide agents who risk their "lives" to try to squish you underneath.

House Built on the Rock - Tougher floors, weaker walls. With the 'damage from falling' mentioned above, the player would earn the advantage.

I Am the One - More melee options, possibly to coincide with aforementioned bullettime, including a powerthrow which is essentially a combo throw and run that slams the enemy forward, and maybe an uppercut (to raise the roof) and a dropkick (to take them down a notch.)

And, finally, the ability to throw away all weapons, not just throwing weapons. If you don't want that handgun, throw it over the side of the roof.

Oh yeah, and a rocket launcher that is only available if you enter a cheatcode. =D

AWESOME!!!!!!!

this games the best, its so addicting!!!, its so good i dont have time to write down submissions, im gonna go play it rite now

Has potential

This game isn't the best on NG, but it's fairly good for something under 500K. The fighting engine used in this game would be excellent to base a future game on, something bigger and broader.

good but not great

I loved the old school style of this game but i think there should have been more backgrounds to the game and traveling. If the maker of this game wants to listen to me then i would like to tell him/her to make a double dragon type game instead of a pointless beat 'em up with good controls.
