Reviews for "Sleepless Nights"

well that just made me uncomfortable...

Great flash, keep it up, except for it being a little long for me, it was very good, made me uncomfortable... gave my pc a heart attack, almost died, but i killed explorer and it finished fine, i followed some story, probably not the intended one, but i liked it

notorious responds:

Thanks for the good review, and yeah, sorry it's so graphic intense. But i'm glad you at least got to watch it the whole way through!

Wtf

wtf did I just watch? Nightmare my ass, the kid was prop just high or something, got so bored on the 2nd dream I clicked exit..

notorious responds:

YEAH! YOU GO GIRL!

falsly advertized

this was jsut a bunch of fancy colors dancing to music, and after the first wake up, it was basically just a music video.. this had little if anything to do with a guy trying to sleep other then him falling asleep and waking up.. i'm all for obscure art, but this was just random.

notorious responds:

ok i'll explain the story to you.

So there's the guy in bed in the beginning, right? And he falls asleep. And then when the wind chimes start and then when the music start, see that's his first dream right there. Now his first dream ends when the music stops and the guy wakes up again, but you'll notice that at the end of the first dream there is half of a completely white face there and near the end it gets 3 green scratch marks on it. Now when the guy wakes back up again, those 3 scratch marks + a bloody nose are on him, so when he's having the dream, whatever happens in the dream to a certain character happens to him in real life. So when he's awake again and it says 'Don't Sleep' that's him thinking that because he doesn't want to have something happen to him like in the last dream, but then eventually tiredness overtakes him and he has another dream.
In this dream there's a guy running away from a car, but at the end eventually the car runs over him and he dies. Guy dies in dream, thus: kid dies in real life! I hope this is a sufficient explanation.

And what's the problem with a music video?

Well...

I'm SURE there was SOME amount of art in there. But true art should not NEED an explanation. If there was a story there it was totally lost after the first wake up. It feels like a glorified music video (cool music by the way). Not my style of artwork, but still pretty cool (what was up with the live footage anyway? Way out of place). All in all, i really didn't enjoy this simply for the fact that it was just TOO obscure. And to reiterate a previous statement, true art should not need to be explained, it should be left up for interpretation. And if it can't be interpreted, well then it's back to the "drawing" board (no pun intended).

notorious responds:

Yeah, it's true, it shouldn't need an explanation. Just like not everything needs a story behind it. But this DOES have a story, however abstract, the only thing that matters is that there IS a story to it, so no story is lost.

that was great

I can never seem to find an artistic flash, until I found this. This was amazing. I don't really think people understand the whole idea to these kinds of flashes, so they just make bad reveiws for them. Overall, this was great.

notorious responds:

Yeah, a lot of people that leave bad reviews are just flat out dumb and don't know what they're talking about, but then you get some people that have low review scores but actually give you advice and those are actually often better than most of the good reviews. Anyways, thanks for the good reviews! Tons and tons of artistic flash can be found on the experimental collection page, too.
