Reviews for "Nocturnal Letters (sized)"

The ending was worth the wait for me!!

This was one if the most original games I have ever played!! It so reminded me of Black Mirror...If you have never heard of it, you can buy online all day long.
I was so sure that Either Ivy or her entire family were ghosts, but the ending was such a twist...I loved it!! It was so Alfred Hitchockian...You have a flare for story writing...
Please make another one!!

Ms-Bowser responds:

Thank you^w^ Nope, haven't heard of Black Mirror.. I'm happy you got surprised by the ending, that's a nice feeling... I think I'm gonna print the reviews and put them on my wall... and look at them every morning ^^

So very, very close to being a front-pager!

I quite liked this game, very interesting storyline and a very good plot, loved the outcome of it all, and I really thought the FF8 reference was cute, since I myself am a hardcore FF-fanatic. Don't let filesize get in the way of something being great! If you were to upgrade this game a bit with the graphics and sound, despite how short it is it would do exceptionally well.

Ms-Bowser responds:

Thank you :) Well, I've given up on NG-fame. My game is not mainstream (or "cool") enough for these boring Internet-gamers. I'm just happy if I can reach out to a few real gamers, such as you, and give them a good experience with my game

Who Needs Cheap Scares When You Have Plot?

Heh... I was so impressed that I created a NG account just so I could review this.

I've played a few point of click games... ExMortis, The House, etc... I think this is my favourite! I got a little lost once or twice, but this is perfect for the persistant gamer. Challenging, atmospheric and certainly plot driven!

Yeah, my favourite part of this was the amazing story. I found myself feeling great sympathy for the characters, feeling Ivy's fear and confusion.

Also, the sound effects in her room near the end freaked me out something rotten!

Persue your goal of being a game designer... as far as I can tell from this, only good can come of it.

Ms-Bowser responds:

Thank you :D I think this is the best one, too (on NG,that is) XD Yes, I wanted my game to tell a story.. That's the sort of games I wanna make.

A classic

I've seen pretty much everything the horror genre has to offer in terms of games and movies, and let me tell you... this game had me looking over my shoulder all the time! The decision to blur the graphics made everything scarier, and allowed us to experience just what the character's confused mind itself was experiencing. The music successfully heigthens the tension to an almost unbearable level. The horror is built by a mix of atmosphere and plot, without relying on cheap scares like so many productions do. The plot keeps you guessing all the way through (while providing hints as to what is truly happening since the beginning), the sense of pacing is flawless... The only criticism I have is that the game is very linear, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. My favorite scene: Ivy's sister lying immobile with a blank face. I dreaded going back to that room afterwards. :D

Anyway, superb work, and I hope we'll get to see more of it soon!

Ms-Bowser responds:

Thank you!:D Everytime I check my reviews, it feels like it's my birthday.. I am also very much into the horror genre, that's why I wanted to contribute by providing something new ^_^ I agree about the linearity.. Not necessarily a bad thing, if the story demands it.

Nicely Done

Well done, my friend. Don't be so self-concious about the game (I can tell that you are by the notes). Yeah, the graphics were a little low-end, but you didn't make it so that I had to click on something REALLY REALLY specific to get what I was aiming for (except, perhaps the very last thing you had to do, but that wasn't affected by graphics). Good stuff. Oh, and if your boyfriend doesn't like it, dump him ;).

Ms-Bowser responds:

:) Hehe, thank you! Seems like a lot of people read the notes, yay! But I would never even consider dumping my boyfriend. :P
