Reviews for "The Atonement - Prologue"

ok.

out of about 8 plays i got to the policeman twice, to get the dual pistols. but the bats all just collect and swoop in one clump and take out 70% of my health in one go. there's not enough potions to make me last long enough, perhaps if you increased the drop rate it would increase the games appeal.

ArtBIT responds:

Lol, I get the shotgun without being touched even once, but I played it like 300 times so far...
I agree that it might be too hard, and I'm working on the balance right now...

Killtastic

Yeah so 98600... beat that! and at one point the music shuts off. There also is a "depletion" of enemies as no more zombies show up and you get 1 bat every 5 secs or so... I was hoping for another weapon after the "developer's" shotgun.

Amazing first run, can't wait to see the rest. Fanfriggintastic JOB!

Stiff Arms

Fun, but there's a few problems; I realise how early in developement this is, but for the most part, these have little to do with that.

The angles you can aim the gun are annoyingly limited. I realise the human arm can't bend in a complete 360° motion, but those blindspots to your reticle would be possible if your character would just turn his body or turn completely around, rather than having to double jump just to hit some enemies directly behind you.

It reminds me of Castlevania, but in the sense of the over-emphasis on bats. It's kind of annoying how something that's (in reality) so fragile and weak is the "main" enemy of the game.

However, I'm looking forward to the complete release. I have the feeling it will be one of the hardest hitters on Newgrounds.

cool game

like every1 else said good game just needs a dam ending >.<

The aiming system. In real life you are able to turn around. In real life you are also able to attack something that's right next to you without running forwards so that you can shoot it behind you. Your attempt to make it more realistic is only annoying, and not realistic. Also I want to be able to turn my character around so he runs backwards, not slowly walks backwards.

ArtBIT responds:

Believe me, it would have been much easier if I had implemented forward/backward kind of game.
Also, I'm not trying to get it "über" realistic, I'm trying to make something different. And I understand if people don't like it. I'm making it so I will like it. Because the only thing I'm getting from all this work is personal satisfaction.
If I am ever to make a commercial game, then, I will think about the audience.
Even then, there will be those who will find it boring/annoying/hard...
Your suggestion has been noted.
