Reviews for "Weasel Stomping Day"

hem...

the flash is good but .... you ever considered theraphy? (just kidin')

Starogre responds:

have you considered theraffee?

I didn't even know...

I never heard that song from Weir Al before. I love Weird Al, so bonus points for you! Sick song, sick animation... good job!

Starogre responds:

thanks, it's a new song

Nasty, sickening, but well set

I'm only giving it this high a mark due to the rather good flash realization of the song, a style befitting the song very nicely, and considering that others might find squishing weasels to be hilarious.

But that flash is going to give me nightmares. I adore weasels very, very much, and this, well, let's say it DEFINITELY deserves the 10 in violence. Seeing this makes me want to go on some kind of violent, postal-like rampage against fur-sellers and non-native / aboriginal / ancient tribal trappers and fur suppliers.

However, it actually does bring forth an interesting point. Some cultures traditionally kill animals that are now endangered. For example, the Inuit have killed whales for hundreds of years, but they do rarely enough that it usually doesn't make a difference. On the other hand, with the yearly seal hunt in Canada, something far more dangerous and frightening has happened: over the past 500 years since annual mass seal-hunting began, the seal population has become DEPENDANT on being reduced this way every year! If the killing were to suddenly stop, there would be a population explosion of seals, than the seals would eat up all thir food and starve, then a population crash would occur. Worse still, the lack of food would impact other species too - the whole food-web thing. So the killing is, while bloody and gruesome, an unhappy necessity.

On the other hand, such things as "weasel stomping" actually do reflect horrific traditions, except it was setting dogs against bears or badgers, the latter of which is a close relative of the weasel. These were barbaric and actually still continue illegaly in Britain and elsewhere, but only with badgers (otherwise,. it wouldn't be too long before there was a bear in Buckingham Palace! "Mumsy, there seems to be a bear gnawing at my forehead.")

Robot Chicken was better but..
