This is one of those pieces that really show the potential for the medium being used. The swirls of the paint add so much character to the surroundings and background. Even the darkness gets a varied raggedness and fading edges. This is contrasted wonderfully with the smooth roundness of the snake and flowers. Those kinds of effects just can't be done with anything other than paint styles, and it really adds to the piece.
