Man you have come a long way

I have to say your style of transformations are unique and inspiring. I studied at art college with sadly one course in after effects animation and boy do I feel jipped. It goes to show that if you want to learn something sometimes you have to do it on your own. Its cool to see a fellow Mainer at the scope of fine art animation and you are only 17!

I have been bitten by the animation bug but I feel my work will be a long way down the road. A few questions I noticed you used a mini-dv camera. Does it have a camera mode or do use a program to take your snaps. I have a good digital camera but for stills my Mini-DV cam is about 3-4 years old and takes terrible stills. Also is there a book I can get on the wire-framing of claymation characters or a website with some tutorials. I love doing animations stuff like this with my students. I work in Gray, Maine teaching middleschoolers about animation and video so I would love to teach them about your work. It would definitely inspire them!

Thanks for showcasing your work on Newgrounds.

MackProductions responds:

Thanks a lot for the review! Haha thats awesome you're a Mainer as well, and it's great you're teaching students about the video and animation world.

I use my Mini-DV camcorder connected to my computer and the frame capture program, Monkeyjam, to capture frames. The camera is used as a live feed basically, and you capture the frames with the computer.
A good book would be Stop Motion: Craft Skills for Model Animation. Also the site animateclay.com is extremely useful.

hope this helps, and thanks!

Not really any faults.

I loved this. I mean, the guys expression was realistic, like a toddler his age. Slightly scared but awed by things like 'Rolling chairs' :P, and smiling at the cake he sees in front of him. Then again, he has magical powers :P. Maybe they're the force XD.

The graphics are flawless, and the story found meaning to everything. The chair has curly stuff to look fancy, but pointless, in the beginning, but when it quickly goes on to the guy's hands and hops on the table, the viewer feels satisfaction. Like 'Man, Mack Productions made everything important, he forgot nothing and didn't waste any time of the movie just sitting still!'.
Even more, the details are remembered. The cake has icing and what seems to be a pattern, and the light flickers for a couple seconds. And the backround moves around alot when the chair 'Rolls' to give a sense of speed and dizzyness. And the legs on the table quickly going straight forward was awesome. The Magic song fit again perfectly, maybe even better then the first. The only thing was that the Become guy looks a bit different. He must be growing :P. Overall, flawless in my eyes. Others may think differently. 11/10

MackProductions responds:

Wow, where to begin with this response. First off, thank you. You noticed all the small things I put into this animation, and thats huge. This review has really made me feel good about making this.
And yes, the Become guy does look a little different, 1 because, yep, he's growin, and 2 because the first one is in no shape to be animated and I had to rebuild him.

Thank you very much
