Reviews for "Ask Al: Babies"

Err...

It wasn't the worst attempt at humor, but it's not stomach hurting humor. The only part that made me crack a smile was near the end when Al tells about the bird getting irritated.

one or two

++++ Still loving the voicing and character.

-- No actual mouth shapes. Slightly out of time synching.

- I think he should've maybe struggled with some of those words in q1 for added comedy.

--there was no real payoff for the Macaulay Culkin story.

- I still feel the generic-looking starburst startup screen doesn't serve you well.

I do enjoy the idea and remember finding one or two previous episodes funnier. (Specially the chicken/egg one.)

Here, I just enjoyed hearing his voice again, but little else.

Thanks for the review. Al is a work in progress really. We're trying to iron out the bad parts and build up the parts people like.

Humor at storks expense.

Ok i've noticed to many inexperienced idiot critics are putting bad blogs on good artists. Ten year olds to fifteen year olds. If people read these artists reviews please not their age. Their not adequte enough to say shit.

Ok this clip was original in all aspects. I loved the story of the stork. The other comment i read, the kid needs his mommy and daddy to explain to him the story of the stork. I think he'll get this clip once he gets his lesson on baby making. Sorry to the artist for filling up this review box but i'm getting sick of kiddie comments because their inexperienced. I just want the artist to know to make more! He's got a sense of humor and knows how to bring it to his viewers in his own way.

The graphics are fine, but that's not the point.

To be honest, I'm not too fond of your movies. I must admit on graphics over the years you guys improved a whole lot, and I'm really happy to see that. The voice acting was perfect, the soundquality was spotless aswell. The thing with this movie is, I dont really get the point, because it's not at all funny to me. The funniest part about Al speaking is the pigeon sound he makes intween, in such a way like he had almost forgotten to do it, that's what makes this character I think.
His ranting is kind of annoying tho, I'm not fond of his accent. Now, the humor is something that needs to be worked on, if you're making a monologue about how babies are made humor is pretty essential. I just didnt find it funny, the rambling felt incoherent, much like Grampa on the Simpsons and it wasn't really the funny type of random.
You've got all the star qualities, except for the writing, I guess.
Also, a thing that's really been bothering me lately is the fact that you use three accounts to post these things. Now you guys know as well as I that movies with multiple authors automatically get a higher score, which is fine, if not exploited. I take it you are both part of the Neptune Circle, yea? Why not just post under that account? Especially if other members of the Neptune Circle participated. However, if you two did all the work, you could just post it under your accounts, but the Neptune Circle account doesnt really need to be credited.
Well, whatever. That's just my two cents.

Thanks for the review.
About the three accounts thing. I had no idea that movies with multiple accounts do better. We submit it under our personal accounts to have the movies attributed to us (so its in our list of movies since we made them) and we have a NeptuneCircle account so that all the NC movies are in one place. We both have other movies besides NC movies, and we wanted to have one account that is exclusively NC movies without having them lumped in with other stuff. And anyway, there is another person who makes music for us so if we wanted to add more accounts, we could add her too.

Humility does not cater to thee

Certainly an unfunny hodge podge of what one might claim to be a satire of inbox claims. Strongbad did it right the first time and from any other perspective these inbox questions are dull witted. Could even go as far as to claim that the pigeon is a satirical copy of anti semitic stereotypes but that only discerns the shoddy speaking that he tries to emulate. Just plain old unfunny to me and whats worse is when someone tries so very hard to invoke hilarity yet falls completely on there faces in the attempt. Stuttering vocals and lukewarm dialogue only helps to ameliorate this common flash error. Its a shame that animators are outrageously nerdy writers.

Drop the formula and build from the ground up. These flashes arnt entertaining. If you want to appeal to the standard newgrounds audience though youll just have to throw in some leet and videogame references. This site is rotten from the core on out with the stench of nerdy youth

NeptuneCircle responds:

Hey, thanks for the review, just wanted to clarify some things.

Al Pigioni was never ever intended to have anything to do with a jewish stereotype. The voice and charecter is based off a lot of the old Italian guys who live around here. And we're both Italian to some degree, soI guess we have the right, ALTHOUGH no matter what race he is or isnt, Al doesnt do anything even remotly racist so I dont see a problem.

Also, about the people here at Newgrounds, I think there are some who can appreciate something more then porn and XBox humor, and we've gotten reviews that show that, but regardless we're not making movies FOR newgrounds, we see NG as a great site where we can show our stuff, but we're not tied down to what the average newgrounds fan wants to see.
