i loved this tut, i am so gonna make a game, however when ur character ex(link) walkes off the screen, how can you make the screen scroll??

Well,
Its a whole different way of making the game.
To start, its not your character that moves, but it is the 'world' thats moving. You need to draw your whole world, conver it to a Movie Clip and make it so when the arrow key is pressed, the world will move in the oppisite direction than the key you pressed.

If you keep working on this it could actually turn out to be something really good, but besides the fact that i totally hate pokemon its a pretty nice rpg game. just work on improving the graphics a lil bit more.

wow a tutorial that actually gives action script with no errors in it that's rare for me.
It was well described and easy to follow, I just wish you'd told us how to move the background instead of the character like in the RPG mini game.
