I just assume robots do the thing they do in Wall-E and plug in until they need to be powered on again for their utility, it would be funnier if you could charge them with a single USB-C Connector

Well... even PCs, cellphones and consoles have a SLEEP mode so Robots WOULD need to sleep to save battery and more.

tbh i could nerd the fuck out with headcanons about the purposes of a lot of the decisions of the cave story robots - why they sleep, why they can eat, why they're hinted at being anatomically correct within the canon (mainly focused on what a robot would need panties for) and what purpose that may or may not serve.
