Reviews for "Moonlight Tragic"

That was good

Keep it up. Not making the weekly top doesn't mean your work is no good. Sometimes your works may only attract a few fans who'd watch the next one and the next one and the next. Cheers!

sara00kid responds:

alright thanks :)

Well...

Nice, but if i'm being brutally honest, a little bland, confusing and ultimately not THAT great.

I voted to save, because i'd be curious to see where you pair could go with flash, you just need (like most of us) a decent idea that really enthuses you.

Keep on plugging.

sara00kid responds:

alright thanks :)

Not bad. But not great.

First of all, I really like the art style. Unfortunately the animation was terrible.

There wasn't enough blood at the suicide, and why censor the photo?

Also, saying you'll only make the sequel if you get lots of attention is pretty arrogant. And i don't like it.

Work on your animation.

WarKirby

sara00kid responds:

I was trying to make the censor photo look like a "flash of a camera" not sure if it came across as that
Hmm yeah, i should change that making the sequel thing, wasn't sure if people would like it? i guess what i meant is, if people liked it, i would continue to make the sequal, with better animation of course, im still learning the basics of flash

Not finished?

I'm a bit confused... Is it supposed to stop abruptly right with the photo and note on the ground covered in blood with the music just cutting out? It seems like you guys didn't finish this, or it's a cheap attempt to get a weekly top rating, based on your own description which says if you get a weekly top, you'll continue.

It's one thing to have a story that continues in another animation, it's something else entirely when you chop something in half and go "give us attention of we won't give you the second half." I don't think a half-finished animation deserves a weekly top place. I think maybe if you'd submitted the whole thing you'd possibly merit that sort of distinction, but for me this feels like nothing more than a cheap ploy.

It's also nothing new or original. We've all seen "anime suicide set to pretty music" flash animations, they're everywhere. So if you're going to do something so overdone, you need to do it well. Since you're only presenting half of whatever it was you're doing, it's impossible to do it well.

I think you'll probably make it in with this entry because anime suicide set to pretty music is so very popular, but in the future, please don't try and pull gimmicks to get attention like this. it's just juvenile. Also, if you make it through, it will probably be mostly thanks to the very pretty music, not the animation itself. Your graphics are okay, but it's mostly still shots and the art style isn't very evolved.

My advice is to work on drawing more if you want to use lots of stills like you are here. Otherwise, submit completed animations.

sara00kid responds:

it took me an hour just to figure out how to stop the sound without it continueously looping lol, and it doesnt just stop, there is a reply button at the corner, but its not very visible, ill have to work on completing it more effectively, i was so eager to put it up and see how people would think about it

Don't get discouraged

This was a very pretty submission. You two obviously have some highly refined drawing skills. But I wouldn't get too disheartened if this submission doesn't make it to the top submissions for the week.

I think it potentially could have made it, but there is one element of your movie that needs improving: the timing. Everything was a little slow and so it felt like it dragged on a little bit. If the opening running sequence was a little shorter, or everything was sped up a little, or the frame rate was higher so that it would look more fluid and we would know the slow-mo is artistic, then it would be a higher scoring submission.

But please continue to practice and make more. You'll get timing down eventually.

sara00kid responds:

yeah my timing is off because i didnt know 12 frames = 1 second, i thought it was 15 frames, my bad :(
