Hey, what a coincidence. My girlfriend and I are just getting to the end of Death Note. It's my 3rd time watching it but she's never seen it (not really hugely into anime). I second fliping21's comment - his eyes throw off his character here. Otherwise it's really great!
Love'd your work! The only thing the I kinda feel like isn't right is the eyes, in Anime Ryuk got his eyes on different angles, and it feels like creepy and demon'd, while in this draw he's more... "human". Anyway, great job, realy loved the background and the painting!
That anime was awesome. Great job drawing Ryuk. I love how you put the apple there :) I think he was a little skinnier and longer, like KimoLemonHead stated down below, though.
