Reviews for "dubstep wip"

Wobbly 0.0

Sounded very wobbly. One thing I can say is that the wobble changed frequently and I liked that. The snare had a good amount of crash to it. This song could be very good if you started bringing in some bass and pads. You could also add some faster drums later on to speed up the song. Great first attempt.

lol never seen a semi review request club b4

i thought about taking the speed up in this, but i dont know how well that would g owith the genre, most dubstep ive heard is UNGODLY slow

AWESOME WOOBBLE

great LP filtering on it too. I recommend taking down upper mids on the clap tho

This isn't bad for a first try! But i can definitely see you adding on this! I'm not a pro at DubStep but i have been listening to quite a bit lately and i can tell you that something that really goes well with a good wobble bass, is really anything slow and distant! Something that also really helps is a melodic bass that plays the same thing as the wobble bass but sounds more clean to make the song sound less like freestyle (any simple bass works but i prefer sub)

The bass you used is good but it is kind of generic without any effects attached to it. It also wobbles way too fast in certain areas. The melody is good tho. Very dubstep-ish.

Drums are good but the addition of a nice hat would be nice. Note that putting effects like love philtre on the drums at certain key parts can score major points! especially in dubstep.

I think you should definitely try to finish this! I hope this helps!

i actually think the bass sounds a bit different in comparison to most dubstep i hear, i mean its not completely new but yeah, you get my point

i dont even know what kind of effects would work well in a song like this xD

Filthy intro!

It shows promise but it only works as an intro as it is. It doesn't loop but I think you're just testing the water here aren't you?

From here, I'd loop the wobble a few times adding in some more elements of the drums section by section. You need a chunkier kick, that gets lost but you can bring that in as an added element. I wouldn't hold off bringing a bass line for too long either! That would fill some of the gaps... Then you need a melody and a few different sections. I'd bring that riff back in after a chorus of some description too, It wouldn't work throughout the whole song because it's so disgusting and it would lose it's impact.

You have a sort of minimalist, Major Lazer kind of thing going on at the moment. I'd check him out for some ideas if that's the direction you'd like to take it but I'd bring in some elements of 'Black and Gold' by Sam Sparrow. Not hardcore dub, I know but I think some swingy rhythms could work really well here.

Good luck with it man, I've given you a fairly low score here because this is just an idea that needs a lot of work. I like the start though, it shows promise.I look forward to hearing the whole thing!

psh i hate minimalistic music xD i am just testing the water with this

i actually probably wont work on this for a while, this wip will most likely end up in the depths of my musics folder

thanks for the review though

Awesome sounds!

You sir are one dirty mothertucker! The drums need some more punch to them but it may just be my headphones, the wobble is very very dirty and pretty awesome! You gotta tell me how you made the wobble so gritty! Sounds quality, keep up the good work! You've inspired me to be a lot harsher on the bass :D

SessileNomad responds:

distortion mostly is what i used to make the bass grimey, some detuneing with the oscillators
