Reviews for "Nephi's Adventure"

Nice job!

Yet again you have done a nice job, great graphics, though the game gets a little trouble due to lag, heh, guess the graphics are a bit too good, I kinda found the older brother guy a bit irratating by bein so mean but it was kinda funny! Anyways, great job, can't wait for the next one!

BoMToons responds:

Thanks, good to hear you enjoyed it.

An excellent start to what will be a great game.

I am a huge fan of point and click adventures and this one fits right in. The voice acting was really good for a game like this. I was impressed by depth that this has compared to most others. The music fit perfectly with the mood as well. I hope the puzzles get a little trickier, but other than that I am definitely impressed by this first chapter. I will definitely be keeping up with this one.

BoMToons responds:

Thank you, it sounds like you're a connoisseur of this genre of game so your comments mean a lot.

Awesome

I can't believe this. I myself am a Mormon, and I was surprised to find this game on NG of all places. To the guy previously, yeah, the SP episode was correct, but it did stupify the story like it does with everything else. I didn't have much time to play this, but this is probably one of the only games that truly deserves all tens. The graphics were awesome, style great, sound good, violence is assumed to be there (although I couldn't play much yet, I know the story and I know a king's head is to roll), interactivity was spectacular, and I think that having a Book of Mormon game is hilarious. I'll remember this game fo shizzle. Check my profile if you want my email, I hope to here from ya. P.S. To the previous dude, they did stuff in Jerusalem before they left for America.

BoMToons responds:

Thanks for the review and the clarification. The decapitation will be part of the next chapter...this one only has Lemuel eating a rotten steak in the "violence" category. Keep an eye out for pt. II. PM me if you want to chat.

Okay then...

At first, judging from the name, I thought this would be a religious parody. Then I realized that your website is "Book of Mormon Toons," and I figured it wasn't.

Beyond your um...unique subject matter, I'll say that the gameplay in this game is somewhat unique for most flash games. The way you get around especially.

It was somewhat short, though. You should release all three in one single game.

You really ended up confusing me, though. I thought Nephi went to North America or something? Wasn't that how the plates Joe Smith discovered ended up in Utah? Then again, remember that my understanding of the Mormon religion came from an episode of South Park.

BoMToons responds:

Thanks for the review. It's not meant as a parody as you figured out.

We released this one right away as a proof of concept for the game engine...the next one will be much better.

Well, South Park apparently wasn't 100% accurate (surprise surprise) this game takes place in Jerusalem before Nephi and his family built the ship and sailed to the Americas.

This one has everything

I had a lot of fun playing this. The graphics were cool; there was animation where there should have been, instead of just static images. The intro sequence was timed well, and the characters have developed personalities. It has a funny minigame, and the voice acting was well performed and abundant. What I didn't like was:
- the preloader. I'm glad you warned us about it because it was white until it was 89% loaded!
- the interface. There are too many different ways to interact with things; I don't like all the extra clicking to specify what I want to do. LucasArts eventually trimmed it down to 3 actions: use mouth (talk, eat), use hand (pick up, use, maybe walk), and use eyes (look at).
- the length. I realize all those sound clips eats up the file size, but it was still over too quickly. I'd like a longer game per episode, and I look forward to the next one.

BoMToons responds:

Yeah, we'll have to re-examine the interface for the next one.
