Hmm...

As with other films, I complement two facets about this film to start off with: the avoidance of using Afghanistan and the lack of torture. The first problem I hate when people decide to group the entire nation of Afghanistan into a single movie and have all get obliterated by some nuke and bombing when they were, in truth, quite innocent. The second I despise because of how it shows a long, graphic, painful killing, slow and torturous, and how people are expected to become joyful and happy when watching it. Death may be a result of "justice", but there's no justice when so much hate and satisfaction is involved. It's just a painful, slow massacre, and it encourages the worst spirits and mentality in people. In real life, I think such tortures would mortify most people due to the graphic amounts of pain and misery caused. That is why I am glad that neither item was featured in this film. But I was still upset with it in that it featured a retaliation at bin Laden that highlighted death. And not only once, but multiple times. I do not condone what bin Laden has done, and I believe he needs to be stopped. However, I think if possible, he should be incarcerated for life rather than killed. I believe that human life has a special status to it, a sacredness and intrinsic value regardless of how individuals might waste their lives. It's for that reason that its unacceptable for a terrorist to kill thousands, and also unacceptable for a justice maker to kill a madman if it can be avoided. That's my main reason, but beyond that I also don't like how people are emphasizing so much on death. As with torture, the more people lust for death and blood the more of their savage, intolerable, negative qualities come to light. I've rarely heard of anyone do in this country as far more hostile countries do, have public chantings for death. To do so is barbaric, unacceptable by any standard. If people are so full of hate and anger to be joyful at the death of someone, then how can we say we would ever be just in punishing him? And even if we do get him, if we kill him it will not bring back the people who were killed, it will not fill the space empty they left in our lives, and it will not make the world any safer. If he is killed, he will probably become a "martyr" for his followers, and they will be encouraged to perform more terrorism than ever. Likewise, the more general we are about getting him, the more collateral damage we do in trying to find him, the more potential terrorists we could stir up and cause even more trouble and death at the price of only satiating our own bloodthirsty appetites temporarily. Because of all of this, I disapprove of killing bin Laden, and as such is why I have grievances with this film.
