Reviews for "The Promise of Home"

Listen and act

Music: Repetetive, cliched. Could have had another song the second time around.
Graphics: Unique style. Really liked it.
Humour: There shouldn't have been any, but there was at points.
Style: Let down by incapability to use correct grammar.

All in all a reasonably well thought out submission **

oy, the animation was bad

the story might have been good. the music might have been good. the dialaugue might have been good. but the visuals made it completely UNWATCHABLE! The characters moved in disturbing, choppy movements, and the were poorly drawn and blocky. And the expresssions of the people were completely inapropriate and bland. The kid always looked like he was smiling, and no one really expressed as much emotion as I expected. This was pretty bad.

I'm seeing a pattern here...

I barely post reviews here on Newgrounds, but for this movie, I make an exception.

I liked your submission called Her and Mine 1001 wishes, but it had exactly the same flaws as this movie, notably the mediocre graphics, and especially the animation. You have a knack for influencing people emotionally, and you should definitely keep your focus there. The poor quality of the movie itself weakens the effect, reducing it to mediocrity.

One thing you should ditch is the pattern you seem to apply to your movies. You basically pick a song, play it twice, and show a slightly animated slide-show in the process. I noticed how you incorporated a running animation somewhere in the middle of the movie, it didn't look all that bad. If you just take a little more time and use this kind of animation thoughout most of your scenes, you could definitely make the whole thing easier to watch, and improve the storytelling.

The combination of on-screen dialogue and music works, but try and use two different songs, and don't let them determine the length of the movie. Get rid of the silence in the middle and try and use music without any lyrics.

I hope you find this review useful, and that it might help improve your next works. I'm definitely going to watch them.

Awesome

It's an awesome animation, and it's really sad.

To the reviewer before me, this is on theflatsworlds site. Mabey that's where you saw it before?

Well, see it in two ends

What should I say........
First of all, yeah, I am a Chinese.
And yes, Asian people reli has an overdose of emotional/sad stuffs, and I HATE it.

But think backwards, these stuffs did happened to our older generations: people slaughtered, homes razed and stuffs...That's why Chinese ppl nowadays hate the Japanese (unreasonably, and partly due to education) so much. I dont blame you guys for not understanding, if u ar a Chinese maybe u feel a little deeper with this flash.

Just, frankly speaking, I hate this stupid looping music so much that I have to turn the speaker off...And the smiling thing bothers me a lot either...If the storyline can go a bit further (not necessiary any longer) I'll certainly give it a higher mark.
