Good piece, great musical selection for it.
Although this is a bit brief and, therefore, lacking in the kind of development necessary to support the intended weight and drama, the music does a lot of the work that might have been done with plot events or narration. It is only because of this selection that I was able to see what I believe to be the emotional charge behind the style.
Otherwise I would have taken it for just another sketch fighter. Well, actually, the intermittent shots of the flower kind of set it apart, too, but they are far less important in setting the mood. The music would have had almost the same effect without the flower, but the flower would have been confusing without the music.
Also, I appreciated the choice of switching between the wooden model style and the closeup facial sketch style, but the details of the victor's face felt incosistent with the more realistic sketches of everything else. Is he supposed to be some sort of demon, or just a man?
With these criticisms noted, I still would like to say that I enjoyed piece and was impressed by the skill and talent that went into it.
