The return of everyone's favorite gun-toting dog.
Brian Beaton's "Scrotum the Puppy" series is one of the most well-known in Flash animation. Most everybody who's visited Newgrounds is familiar with the cute little puppy who constantly falls victim to senseless violence. In this chapter, however, the tables turn, and the cute little puppy extracts revenge against those who have killed him in the past.
The artwork is nicely done in this cartoon. The characters are well drawn, and the blood effects and slow-motion video scenes are top-notch. The explosion of the gang headquarters is rather poor, but other than that, I have no complaints. The choice of music is also excellent, accompanying the action well. The transition from softer music to heavy metal in the beginning of the movie signifies Scrotum's transition from a cute, innocent puppy into a killing machine.
Despite the artistic excellence of the film, it still is basically nothing more than a dog shooting people. The "sensless, gratuitous violence" theme does get old after a while. Still, Scrotum 4 is a great movie, and a must see for any Newgrounds fan.
The best scrotum yet
This movie is my favorite movie on the portal. The best thing about it is the music it really sets the atmosphere i think this is why I like it more than Scrote 5. I'm just wondering how Brian Beaton got the idea for a gun crazed puppy. This movie is pure genious if there was an oscar for flash movies Brian Beaton would get one for this.
A Movie To Idol
This series has come a long way since Scrotum 1, and this forth installment definately shows Brian's true talent. This is actually one of the films that inpired me to start making short films in flash. Mine surely are not up to the level of Brian's work yet, but then again, not many are. A definate masterpiece. (Scrotum 5 is a great film too!)
