Reviews for "Punt a Penguin"

Penguins...

This had some cool animation. I mean, it was a public service announcement, so it was kind of corny, but it was still well done for a flash.

Duriel SMASH penguin

Let me first say that, because of my political bias, I did not vote on this submission on the 1-5 scale. I thought that would be unfair to you as an artist. Graphics were good, but I thought the tone was too... light, to be convincing. Again that may be my bias, so this didn't affect your rating.
I do feel that your movie lacked some key elements, which kept you from persuading me. You did not present evidence that emissions from cars caused the death of half the penguin population. There is no proof, in fact, that those emissions have caused global warming. If there was proof, I still have been given no way to create change. Unless I really really missed something huge here, only a very very very small percentage of Newgrounds users are also Mayors of major cities.
Again, I do thing your work as an artist is commendable, but these are areas in which I feel you need improvement. Good luck to you on future submissions.

jmtb02 responds:

Global warming is a slightly weighed term at this point, because it has been proven that the fluctuation of temperature is not necessarily all heat.

However, I do feel your concern for a lack of a few elements. First off, I wouldnt want to make a scientific slideshow about how climate change affects penguins, or how we can link pollution to climate change. And I agree, that not necessarily all climate change problems are contributed to humans.

Yes, not many NG members are mayors. But that doesnt stop people from bringing it up to their parents or spouses, and making an effort to try to push legislation for these kinds of city initiatives. Mayors are influenced by the people in their cities, and from neighboring town.

I agree, many areas need improvment, but I appreciate you taking the time out to write a review, it only makes my work better in the future :). Thanks again.

I'll get the boots

Nice style but all it really made me want to do it kick penguins. Of course it doesnt help that I cant stand their ugly little faces, they're like fat little butlers.

Save the Penguins

Wow! Fifty percent of the penguins gone in fifty years!

Man, all these treehuggers going aroun dyelling "Save the Whales!" well what about "Save The Penguins!"?

...and to all who take "treehugger" offensivley, I apologize.

To the point though, pretty good flash

Here's what I think could have been improved:

The animation and rotoscoping in this movie were quite fluid, and the artwork--while reminding me of a lot of things I wish I could see less of in flash (gradients, effects applied to static backgrounds)--was cute and did what it needed to do. The text was unique, crisp, and stayed on the screen for just about as long as it needed to. The other animations in this movie should have followed suit; if I can tell exactly what's going to happen in the next few seconds, the movie is moving too slowly. That being said, I still enjoyed this movie. It is better than a lot of penguin shorts on Newgrounds.
