As for the weapon, I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a shotgun of some sort.

Thank you! And it's actually my own series I have created, it's just a little side-project so I don't get to do much with it. The character isn't really anywhere else yet at the moment, but hopefully I can get more done of him!
