it was supposed to be a sonic vs. shadow and you just made a brand new story it doesnt make sense how you just made them start over instead of actually making it after where it started off, so sorry but just doesnt make sense to start a new one

The idea is that the story unfolds more with each movie. This most certainly does take place after the first and nothing started over.
