Proven concept needs a little tweaking

Good game overall. But I found a few issues. First off shields are fairly usless in general. They usually take too long to regenerate and can't even withstand one hit without draining completely and allowing damage to the armor. For example, I barely skimmed by a missle of the second boss and wham... dead... the missle didn't explode and I grazed the back end of it. Which bring me up to the next issue. Your collision detection needs work. It's too strict when it comes to money pickup and too leaniant when it comes to enemy collisions. Armor also drains way to quickly and is also useless to a certain extent. Ever played Tyrian? Very good example of this kind of game and play style. Also on the second map you have enemies able to shot to the player when they are off screen and player navigatable areas. It's a good game, just a few pisser-offers...

Its pretty hard to do strict colision detection in Flash. The flash checks colisions aways as (unrotated) rectangles. My solution was to put various hit points in some ships to make CD better. Sadly it slow downs Flash, as it has to do all CDs various times in each second. So I had to use it caressly. The boss 2 beam shot is a fine example. His beam width ocupy almost all the screen. If you note, when he shots diagonal (the beam becomes a huge diagonal line) and you go below his eye, you dont get hit. Rectangles and small circles shapes (as coins and mines) do fine with flashs check colision, as it is easily covered with rectangle.

You need to redo this game

The game would of been perfect if you fixed the fact you only had one life. Nothing more annoying then dieing and having to do the whole level over again, it sadly ruins the game and makes it lose almost all of its fun points.

I DID made 3 lives in the beta. But the fact that you have a shield and a hull to protect you made the game far too easy. So I had to take it out.

But I do agree that its not too fun to die in the boss and have to replay it. In Tyrian (1 of the bests space shooter made, my game was highly influenced by it) was the same way.

I think a checkpoint would be a better solution, as other reviews pointed out.

Quite good, reminded me of Tyrian.....heres my review,

Graphics- quite good but you might want to change the spread shots and the shields a bit, they slow down even on low setting on my massively powerful computer,

Style- Really nice, although it gets repetitive its quite nice.

Sound - Only problems are that some things are ALOT louder than the others.

Violence - Like the bunches of different guns but you might want to get another generator, there should also be more types of drones.

Interactivity - Very nice, sound customization 5 diff levels.

Oh and one more thing.....are vulcan cannons supposed to be this massively overpowered? I got it at 5 with a 5 generator and I cant lose.....everything will just fall down in my path.

It is so fun and so interactive.To make it better you should make custom paint jobs for the ships and chose if your piolet is male or female.[for all those female New grounds out there.;]Other than that I aplad you.calpcalpcalpcalpcalpcalpcalpcalp.p.s can you make an RPG with this systom?
