No there was no inspiration from Sonic at all
Actually, there was much influence from the Super Smash Bros Melee theme song, as you should be able to hear in the last quarter of this track.
Subconsciously, I owe most of the piano melody (which in the end turns into most of what you hear) to a song I first heard from an animation called "Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me"

This has crossed over from song into symphony/epic. I have never heard something this impressive from any techno I've ever listened to. It is epic/awesome/amazing/jaw-dropping all at the same time and more. I'm doing the best I can to describe this but I'll never actually find the right words. YOU ARE GOD!
