I find that you can get him used to getting shots. I use seditive, personally, in a very low dose.

Correct way to mutate your rat,
step 1, grab him
step 2, inject a small dose of anesthetic
step 3 the rat falls asleep
step 4 inject rat with mutagen or change body parts
