Commenting on last review as well. First last review:
I disagree with most of your statements. True, the mouth movements aren’t there, and the voices are not in sync. (That’s the part I agree)
About the long periods time where nothing happens, I feel that that is part of her style. In any novel (that is what I’m almost taking this piece for) an author will have their own style and although you may not like it, you have to take it for what it is. In addition, I feel that by making many extended periods of time which repeat the same event (like the coins dropping) it allows the viewer to not only reflect on the flash, but the memory of the brother. I think you lose sight of exactly what this is: a memory of him. As such it should not be rushed, since memories are not made to entertain viewers but to remember. I feel that this time allows the viewer to reflect, and therefore is precious in itself.
You then commented on it being done in a dull manor. Again, this is part of style. In fact Steinbeck’s writing is a little similar, and he is considered to be one of the greatest writers in American Literature. So again: style.
Now, on to my view: As in any piece, the fact that you lost your brother increases my score, perhaps out of pity, and perhaps just because by losing someone, you are “raising the stakes” for the flash. I wish to keep this somewhat short so I’m going to restrain myself to saying that you have fulfilled your purposes in this flash. I don’t have any problem with no changes being done to the mouth movements or whatever.
I like it, and keep it up.
