Reviews for "Space Fighters Revolution"

Pretty Good

Graphics - Nice and smooth, might be a tad simple but thats often best with these sorts of games. Anyway I quite liked the graphics even if fighters were effectively big balls *chuckle* so a nice 8 here.

Style - Certainly had style what game that even resembles asteroids doesn't? Still I get the feeling this could be improved with a few other bits I'll discuss in "Interactivity". Anyway a still above average 7 here.

Sound - Got a nice range of sounds for weapons and background music isn't too bad either. Its also nice and clear quality so again an above average 7.

Violence - You blow things up. You get a nice "poof" of smoke or even a red flare. Obviously this game isn't about INTENSE violence so won't consider this score in Overall. So a 2 here.

Interactivity - Well what can I say? For this style of game you've done pretty well on the Interactivity score getting yourselves another above average 7. However I can personally see a few ways in which this score could be increased in future version (if there are goign to be any). Possibility of seperating the waves into stages might be an idea and that way instead of starting with all the weapons, players could say use their points to buy upgrades and the such.

Humor - Lets face it this isn't meant to be a funny game. Unless you find floating rocks in space funny then by all means put higher than a 0 here for humor. Needles to say also not being counted in Overall.

Overall - 6. Slightly above average. Its a good game and would have been mroe like a 7-8 score IF I hadn't run into two bugs. The bugs were: -
*sound of enemy gunfire constantly firing after destroying an enemy fighter
*waves of enemies stopped spawning
If it helps debug I'll list a few things now: -
*score above 10000
*believe I killed the enemy in the middle of it firing a pulse of bullets
*spawn bug happened very shortly after the sound bug, high possibility related

Thats all I can remember off-hand I'm afraid. It did only happen the once but I don't have time to play it through mroe times to try and duplicate. I did like this submission still and would like to see more of your work reach the front page in the future!

Nemo responds:

Thank you for the extremely informative review. I will check out what may be causing the bugs you are talking about. Much of it may just be lag. I've noticed that it starts jumping occasionally when there are many enemies on the screen. Like I said to another review, I might think about adding the campaign back to it... but I'm not sure.

A main problem I have is making a stupid mini game and then starting a huge sequel right after that. So, for now at least, I don't think I am going to add anything in anytime soon. I want to get some other stuff done first.

Again, I really appreciate your in depth review. They are much more usefull than "nice, cool", which a majority of the (what it seems) sub-literate population here seem to post all the time. Thanks!

Great Game!

Great game, faster paced... now "acceleration/deacceleration time" which I like. The 0 for sound is not meant to be offensive... I'm at the campus comp lab and we aren't allowed to play sounds :-(

Try and make your full game, that would be awesome!

Nemo responds:

It sucks that you can't play sounds in there. I think it is much better with sounds; it adds to the action. Anyway, as for the full game idea, there is a chance I might do that. I've had this for such a long time in development, partly because I started new games in the middle, and just wanted to get it out here. So, if I finish all the stuff I have set as priorities, I might think about putting the campaign back in.

Glad you liked it man. Thanks for the great review!

AWESOME

This was amazing. It was extremely fluid and didn't seem to hard or too easy. The difficulty was increased at a very reasonable pace. I was very impressed. Keep up the good work.

Nemo responds:

I offer many thanks and much gratitude toward your review. Lots of people say it goes for too long being relatively easy, but it seems that is not everyone. Glad you liked it and thanks for the review!

simple fun,

very much reminded me of the game mealstrom on my mac ;)

Nemo responds:

Never heard of that game... but I do like simplicty in some ways too. I'm pleased you amused yourself for some time. Thanks.

twas good

very fun, but i did find a lil glitch....the cheat codes don't work.

Nemo responds:

Did you imput the code, see the green box to the left lit up, and click "Enable"? They work for me. Glad you liked it though and thanks for the review.
