I had to read a few reviews, but I'm ready now!
Okay - I think the thing that bugged me was that if your intention was to follow in the footsteps of Randy Solem (creator of ROTMK,) there was a core value missing as far as technique is concerned; that technique I speak of is 'simplicity.' Simplicity means that a child could understand what's going on when they're watching a movie. This is common in many of the flashes that are random fighting that make no sense.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the style of getting the point across that the real Mario entered his own flash movie was done a little cheaply. As you recall on ROTMK, he NEVER used captions to tell the story. He took the challenge on letting actions speak louder than words... and that's what made his story an elite out of Mario Flashes.
Aye, but I see you're continuing this series! If my advice is by any means, valid (hope so), try to keep some of these elements in mind, next time!
