Hmmm...
Simplicity is king and this game proves it. Looking at a game with a file size of 4Kb I really wasn't expecting much but this has turned out to be an excellent game.
The only problem I'm having is that there isn't really much to review. This game is so unbelievably simple that it needs no explanation, just click and watch.
Admitedly the graphics are pretty poor. A few blue dots fly past the screen and the explosions are just expanding and contracting yellow, red and orange circles. Although improving the graphics will take the simplicity away from the game, i'm sure a slight improvement would hurt.
I'm not too sure about sound. i feel that if sound is added you will end up with a constant, loud and repetative explosion sound, so i think it was a good idea to leave it out.
Not much interactivity involved. Just one click of the mouse is needed to start the game and space to restart. i can't really see how this could be improved. It can't really. Its too simple.
Although i love this game as it is, there are a few ways i think it could be made a little more variable. Having different difficulties would be a start. The harder the difficulty, the few blue dots appearing on the screen. It could also be level based so you need a certain number of points to reach the next level. There could be different coloured dots which have a different explosion range or offer more points when they are hit. Maybe a few bonuses such as an 'extra click', which can be gained if it is caught in an explosion. And opening menu wouldn't go a miss either.
If you do consider making a 'variety' version, i would still love to see this original version in there to keep fans happy.
I'm so happy to have found this game which has an original idea which was executed perfectly so as not to be too similar to the other games which has graphics as their only asset. Quick, simple and utterly replayable. This is definately one of my favourites.
It just... works.
