Reviews for "Sapphire's '09 Voice Demo"

Wow, that's some talent you got there...

Definitely the best voice acting audio piece I've ever heard on Newgrounds, awesome job.

The variety of voices are amazing, and were played out very, very well. The one of the little girl impressed me quite a bit. It honestly sounds like a different person is saying every single one of those.

Amazing job on the effects in the background too. The one at the beginning was the best, and I liked the effect you did on your voice to make it sound demon-like somewhere at the beginning. Towards the end though, there weren't many more sound effects or anything. Maybe you can add a few melodies playing along with your voices which fit with the scene in most parts.

Other than the fact that I think a bit of music in the background for some scenes would be better, this voice acting is amazing. Keep up the good work :D.

amazing

you have a very versitile beutifuly sounding voice

Impressive as ever...

You've always been a favorite of mine among the female AVA populace, Sapphire. This is a great demo. :)

Hmm... good.

A very wide range of voices supplied in this demo reel - the only female voice I don't think I heard was the little old lady type voice - I think we caught a lot of stereotypes in there, thus making up for it.

Now it's time for the standard line that as a fellow voice actor, I don't feel that these sorts of reels are the best way to go, as the quotes are taken out of context, which can adversely affect the listening experience. Perhaps some notes in the comments could enlighten us more as to the origin of the pieces?

Great effects thrown in there - what software do you use for producing these pieces?

Sapphire responds:

Thanks for the review!

The lines used in this demo were created by me. I didn't pull them out of any other piece of work. With that said, I fail to understand how knowing the origin of a line will make the listening experience better.

Great

You have a very wide range of voices plus the sound quality itself is outstanding.
Too bad we can't see the flashes the quotes belong to. Some sounded pretty familiar, others didn't.

I think the best way to promote your voice acting skills would be to write a short conversation or a short scene between various characters, all voiced by yourself (or maybe one or two voices from other voice actors).
This would give you the chance to show off your skills and the listener had something nice (and hopefully funny) to listen to.

Sapphire responds:

My quotes weren't from any flashes, they were originally written by me.

Although I do appreciate your review, I don't think that making short conversations between different characters is always the best way to go. After all, a lot of professional voice actors like Johnny Yong Bosch, Laura Bailey, and Tress McNeil have pretty much done the same thing I've done with my demo, while still entertaining their listeners and the producer/director.

The producer/director should be able to sit down and say, "This person can act, and has a good amount of range." If a VA can't do any of that then they've "failed" to do their job.
