I liked it, in fact, I also have four budgies as pet birds and therefore I had some other birds as pets.
Please keep in mind that you should never keep a bird alone, at least two (best would be a pair) are necessary in order to provide the animals a happy life!
The idea to keep the dead body in a brick is kinda special, I never tought about something like that, burying is still better i nmy opinion.

But your friend smashing your brick and having the bird fly away didn't really happen, right? If so then I think it would've been better had you made into a dream sequence...you know, suddenly waking up and wondering if your bird IS still alive or not inside the brick....
