solid piece, kind of short, needs some tweaks
Hmm. I should have watched this before part 3, which shows a lot of improvement in most ways and makes this suffer by comparison.
Kind of a slow start with the storm scene. And then... ugh. I absolutely hate the repeat-impact stuff. I'm not a huge fan of it anywhere, and it seems REALLY contrived and over the top here. (I'm glad to see you dropped this by the third episode.)
This felt a bit short, until I started thinking of it as like the intro bit that comes before the credits on some TV shows. It's about the right length for that.
The graphics are okay, but there's a major stylistic difference between the fairly realistic kids and the crazy old guy caricature dad that just didn't work for me. Also, the end scene with the kids walking was by far the worst animation work in the piece ... unfortunate, since it was the key scene in establishing their relationship, and it was probably the best in terms of voice acting. It's just REALLY wonky, and looks like you couldn't decide whether to do fade dissolves with them gradually getting further away or a full animation of them moving, so tried to do a little of both.
There's not much emotion in the voice acting of the parents. It was hard for me to believe that they despise the daughter but idolize the son based on their tone, though the words seemed to imply this was the case.
