Reviews for "Starfighter"

Front page.

Very good, I'm betting this will be on frontpage sometime soon. :)

...

You get a 5 because ITS WAY TOO HARD! One mission suddenly becomes 500000000 x harder than all the others, and you get game over straight away, and its just too boring to start all over again.

Have got a save option at the official site. I had to take it out for NG cos they dont have the server side code (because I wrote it) needed for loading/saving this game. If you can save, the game suddenly becomes a lot easier :)

Alot to be proud of here.

You did a good job. This is an interesting game and very well done. Instead of focusing on the meny things you got right however (which I am sure others will gush over) I will mention what could use a few small improvements though to aid the fun factor a bit.

First of all, when I first saw it in judgement. It looked like a mouse click game. So, I clicked everything in the menu screen but the game would not start. I thought it to be some joke so I blammed it. Then after I saw the reviews I realized that I had to do something else. a start button would be a good idea instead of having people to figure out that you have to press enter.

Also, in the second training mission you tell us to hit the 2 button to activate the boster when you need to hit the z button. A careless mistake that causes a bit of fustration.

The music is rather loud too. It got annoying and since you cannot save by the time it get's annoying you might just decide to bear with it as you will lose everything you gained by quitting and going to options to turn it off. An ingame button to toggle would help.

And WHY are the training missions an integral part of the flash? If you want replay value they will, in particular, get old and boring to people playing. Perhaps you'd want to look at making a way to skip them altogether so people that know how to play can get on with the actual game.

Again, very nice work. I hope to see many more flashes come from you. :)

DJStatika responds:

Thanks for playing. I'm glad you liked it overall.

I'm guessing that you didnt find the yellow 'Start Mission' button clear enough? I'm a bit shocked that you blammed it cos you didnt look long enough to see the start button.

It definately says 'z' in the instructions. I even changed the font to arial to make it clear. I'm sorry that you didnt find it clear enough.

I had to take the save game feature out to put it on NG because NG wont have the server side code that i wrote to do this. Go to my site and play the game at its original location, then you can save after the training missions, and save whenever you want to switch off the music. However, it may be helpful to put in a toggle music shortcut key, and I might do this

Holy Shit.....

This is a fuckin sweet ass game indeed. Controls kick ass, many options, good sound, good graphics. It does start off a little slow however but thats ok.

A fistfull of Boomstick in space!

This is a fistfull of boomstick in space! -Awesome AI, too damn smart they were. I enjoyed it loads, got really far before I realised I should've brought more lives! -It's a really good game in nearly every way apart from graphics I think. I thought the ships looked too simple and boring, and there wasn't much else apart from space and stars, I was hoping for stuff like a phat nebula or some collossal planet on the background. But hey it doesn't matter cause this game has brill' gameplay, superb AI and playback value as opposed to similar ones on this genre. My favourite thing about this game was it's biggest surprise: squad members (I didn't thought that was even possible in a flash game!) who work together really well! ; The one and only thing I thought this game REALLY missed was a strafe feature, it gets a bit annoying after a while when all you do to kill an enemy is circle round and round until you get behind him and shred his metal ass! -but as a whole, this is top quality stuff!
