Good for your first try
I wish i could get a fire flower power for whenever I have a cheating girlfriend. If that's what you can do on your first try then you have great potential. Keep trying and you could be front page material one day.
Solid First Effort...
I can't say that the title of your piece is one of the classiest things I have seen at NG, but I do have a soft-spot in my heart for sprite-based flash. If this is your first effort, then good job! I have seen WAAAY worse things crawl in through the portal.
Just a couple of specific things that caught my attention:
For the first part of the flash, you really need to grab people's attention with more than just Mario fighting Koopas. There is nothing more happening through the first half that I couldn't find by loading up Super Mario World. It picks up when you introduce more plot elements later on, but that was slow in coming.
Second, you had good choreography with the sprites, but you should take just a bit more time in making their motions more fluid. The execution was fine. You just needed a bit more patience in bringing it all to life.
Musically, it was ok. I see no problems with your usage of music.
I will be rather sad to see this blammed, should it come to that. I think you have a promising start here, and hope fervently that you will pursue this. With a bit of polish, you could be the next Phantasmagoria Crow. ~s~ Even if this entry fails to make portal, don't give up! I'm rooting for you!
