Here's What I Got...

Although I found the song's progressions and structure spot on I felt the the voice of that guitar to be quite off at times. Not to say it doesn't sound good...It just doesn't sound to realistic i guess is the term that I am looking for. but I really liked the guitar effect that you started up at around 1:40 or so. lol, that one kid said it was a saxophone. Don't listen to that kid either, you can make general rock songs. I think it is actually better to write in multiple genres, it gives you different perspectives and ways to write and approach your music. The drums sounded pretty good, I can't really get my opinion right now though because it is like 4:15 in the morning where I am and I don't want to turn up the volume, but I listened to this earlier. I think that this title definitely suits the music and style. I would almost post this in the video game genre. Hmmm, lets see how could we make that distorted guitar sound more realistic...what did you use first of all to write the guitar? If it was fl slayer you are going to have a tough time making a realistic guitar, not to say it can't be done be it would be very hard to get a good guitar sound in there. You are probably going to want to add a little more sustain and release to make it sound better and a cut for when you have the "chicki-chicki" palm mute things. A shit load of FX helps too, the acoustic guitar doesn't sound half bad though! Nice job with that. I can hear the bass fine, another thing that vishnunamboodiripad obviously can't hear correctly. damn! I don't know if there is a pad but some pads would add a lot to this song (my volume is to low to pick up the pads if there are any, sorry.) Well, you certainly have come a long way since the first time I reviewed one of your songs. I think that your sound production needs to get better for this genre, but both of us know that when it comes to classical you pretty much have everything in the bag. great job and keep up the good work!

5/5 And I'm spent,

FairSquare responds:

Well, i used Nexus for the guitar.
And i'm really happy that you liked the structure of the song, because that is what i'm trying to work on and chord progressions too.
Oh, and a question to you, why are you awake at 4:15 in the morning? :P
Thanks for the advices in this review and thanks for the review overall. I really appreciate it :-)

Rock...damn.....

I know I'm gonna mess up something in this review because I don't know anything about Rock. It's the one genre I've never experimented with or even bothered to listen to often. (Or even occasionally lol)

But this song feels like it's missing something. It might be because most of the song is the bass and guitar. And furthermore, the guitar's short notes make the song sound kind of empty.

And the guitar does sound a bit weird, maybe more FX on it, that's a good way to get a nice-sounding guitar, especially if you're using FL Slayer.

I'm gonna leave it at that because, like I said, I'm stupid when it comes to rock music. But I can't leave without saying what's good about this song:

Acoustic guitar and the sections surrounding it. That was nice as hell, probably my favorite part of the song.

Drums, as always. Aside from the compressor messing with the snare roll a bit, they were perfect.

That cool effect with the bassline. I have no idea how you did that, but it sounds pretty cool.

Whew, it's late. I'm headin out. Peace!

FairSquare responds:

Lol, you don't HAVE to review if you think you can't say anything helpful :P
Not that you didn't say anything helpful though, the advice you gave is actually very helpful :-)
And i don't use FL Slayer, i use Nexus. FL Slayer is... well... not really usable for me :P
Thanks for the review! :D

Drum fills

Guitar samples sounded too much like a midi but im not gonna judge the song based on that standard. I liked the strumming effect alot though. Felt like the bass could have been a little more busy from the 45 sec mark on. Piano solo was weeaaak :( It matched the pattern of the guitar riff too much. Try some ascending apregios.

Im digging the vibe though so 8/10 5/5 4.20 / 5.00 (+ 0.040)

4.20 score....sweeet

FairSquare responds:

Piano solo? Where? :P
I think you mean the part at 01:54, but that's not a piano, that's a guitar.
And the titel of your review... what are you trying to say with that? That my drum fills are good or that they could've been better?
You may have a point on the bass though, it's a pretty basic bass :P
Anyway, thanks for the review! :D

Not rock enough!

I felt like the drums could have been harder. And the guitar could have had more chords . At 1:40,it was nice. The end "To me " should be the beginning.I don't know a lot about rock ,but for some reason "I feel like you held back a bit".Try different things.Slow and steady wins over rush and unprepared. You have a lot of talent .I can hear it.Just don't limit yourself.I could be wrong about this track. But I feel like you left something out.I can't quite put my finger on it.The score would be higher "But I can feel only a part of where you were going with this.Don't be afraid to stand out and grab it.I've rated more of your music than any others. You've got that" it factor"!I hope you keep this things in mind.I do like it.

FairSquare responds:

Slow and steady wins over rushed and unprepared. That definatly fits with this song which i rushed too much.
A few months ago i almost rushed all of my music, but it didn't feel like i was rushing.
Now, i've learned more about composing and i don't rush things anymore.
Thanks for this review, it really cheered me up :-)

Great, but...

As a rock song, it wasn't very good, but as a song in general, it was a GREAT. Rock is a genre I always listen to, and I know a lot about it. I mean I didn't hear base, and like, at around 2:00, you had a saxophone. I mean, a saxophone would work if you put it in the right place, but it just doesn't work well, at ALL at the place you put it in. Its really hard to explain exactly why its not a really good rock song, its just not. You're better with drums and normal classical instruments. Rock isn't your style. You're still a great artist, but its not your style. But still, its not a bad song, but its not a great rock song.

Still, great job though!

FairSquare responds:

A saxophone? Did i use a saxophone? XD That was just another guitar, i wouldn't dare to put a saxophone in a rock song :P
But thanks for the critical review and i just wanted to try some Rock out :P
And i listen to a lot of rock too, so i understand what you mean.
Thanks for the review :D
