Its fictional. I guess it's vaguely based in Asia.
I used to live in the city. It's really nostalgic seeing this as I used to walk home from my school with my sisters and we always used to go to the park to play in the rain. The dim lighting especially is nostalgic as we often played late into the afternoon till our parents got pissed. Anyways, beautiful art.
