Ah yes. Yet another piece of media accusing america of now, all of a sudden, being facist.
While nationalism is indeed prevalent in facist societies, it is very different from patriotism. Nationalism is an ideal that one must support one's own country at all times, and those that do not comply are to be executed as per the law. Patriotism is a love for one's own country, similar to a 'rooting for the home team' effect in a sport. In facism, you MUST love your country. In patriotism, you have the freedom to love your own country.
Also, america lacks the 'controlled mass media' (Talk radio and ONE cable news network does not a controlled mass media make) and 'rampant sexism'(where do you get this stuff?) features of a facist regime. Also, the abu-grab prisons and other prisons of WAR don't count as a disdain for human rights.
Obsession with national security? The prez had one hell of a wakeup call with 9/11. Can you really blame him for being a liiiiittle bit paranoid with our national security. Also, we have yet to seal our borders. Kind of goes against our 'obsession', yes?
Disdain for intellectuals? The term 'Art' had a different meaning during world war 2. You had to do more than throw elephant crap on a pic of the virgin mary. I have nothing against intellectuals, but I don't believe that true intellectuals embrace modern art. Any disdain for intellectuals in this country arises from the arrogance of the intellectual left in this country. After all, us common folk couldn't possibly comprehend the sheer depth and power of a cross floating in piss. How could us idiots acutally support our government? You know, the government we live with. That government. And last I checked, facism wasn't too good about letting those that critisize the government....you know....LIVE. Correct me if i'm wrong, but michael moore is alive and well.
Fraudulent elections? Are you fucking kidding me? You must be joking. The supreme court of the state of florida had a liberal bias at the time. Every time the count was in favor of bush, gore would simply call for another recount, but in a different way. 'Oh well, I think they meant to vote for me'.....Bullcrap (in an ironic turn of events, the only way that gore won florida was by counting them in a way suggested by george bush. if gore would've just agreed with bush, he'd be president right now. Funny ol' world isn't it?). Why aren't you mentioning the 04 election? Did kerry get his ass kicked in that one a little too much for you to mention it?
