I felt like i was playing a game on the NES. Good job! I would say that if you want to be hardcore 8-bit you shouldn't use any FX, don't master (except for volume) and don't use arpeggiators. But all in all this is a good 8-bit piece. Keep it up!
Well, I don't use any Arpeggiators, first of all, and secondly, any FX (other than a very tiny bit of reverb to save peoples ears from hurting on sharp notes) are made through adjusting the 8-bit plugins themselves, doing things that could be done if I actually had an 8-bit synthesizer in front of me. For example, the "echo" on the notes that begin at 0:22 (and other notes that echo like that) is accomplished through a seperate track of the same synth, but with release applied to the note, to "hold it out" which is something that the original composers of 8-bit did quite often, if you listen carefully.
